In celebration of the beloved anime Chibi Maruko-chan turning 35, a themed pop-up café will be opening in Shimokitazawa. From September 18 to October 31, 2024, fans can visit the Chibi Maruko-chan Café at Sunday Brunch Shimokitazawa to enjoy a selection of special dishes inspired by the show’s cheerful and lovable protagonist, Maruko.

Maruko’s Favorite Hamburger and French Toast Combo
One of the standout dishes is the Maru-chan and Hamburger Plate. This hearty meal brings together Maruko’s favourite hamburger steak and Sunday Brunch’s signature French toast, all on one plate. The meal is served with blue-coloured rice, artfully shaped to resemble Mount Fuji, adding a whimsical touch. The rice’s unique hue is achieved using herbal tea, making this dish not only fun to eat but also visually delightful.
Lazy Day Tarako Pasta Inspired by Maruko’s Room
For fans of Maruko’s more laid-back side, the Maru-chan’s Tarako Pasta is a must-try. This dish draws inspiration from the iconic episode where Maruko is caught lounging around on a day when her home is due for a parent-teacher visit. The pasta is topped with miniature Maruko figurines, shrimp, and avocado, artfully arranged to depict a messy room—perfectly capturing the humour and everyday life scenarios the series is known for.
Decadent Pudding and Chocolate Parfait
Lastly, sweet tooths will be satisfied with the Maru-chan’s Pudding Parfait. This indulgent dessert layers rich chocolate parfait with a generous serving of pudding on top.
