Autumn in a Cup: Starbucks Japan’s New Hojicha “Roasted Sweet Potato Mousse Tea Latte” Debuts in Tokyo

Starting September 3, 2025, Starbucks Japan will introduce a limited-time fall drink that combines comforting flavours in a fun, dessert-like latte. The “Hojicha Roasted Sweet Potato Mousse Tea Latte” blends hojicha (roasted green tea) and creamy milk with a smooth roasted sweet potato sauce, giving you delightful bits of sweet potato in every sip. It’s topped with a fluffy sweet potato mousse and dusted with sweet potato powder for extra flavour and texture.

Priced at around ¥628 for takeout or ¥640 for dine-in (Tall size only), the iced latte promises a satisfying experience that feels as rich as a dessert.

The roasted sweet potato sauce is smooth yet textural, letting you taste bits of sweet potato alongside the smoky aroma of hojicha. The mousse and powder add a gentle richness and satisfying mouthfeel.

Hojicha, roasted green tea, has grown increasingly popular as a sophisticated alternative to matcha. It delivers earthy, nutty, caramel-like notes while being lower in caffeine and offering soothing antioxidants.

If you’re looking for a must-try seasonal drink in the city, this latte hits all the right notes—cosy, flavorful, and Instagram-worthy.

At the same time, the Chocolate Mousse Latte makes a seasonal comeback, offering a classic favourite with silky chocolate mousse, deep-roasted espresso, and nutty aromas. It’s available hot or iced, priced around ¥589 takeout / ¥600 dine-in
