Detective Conan Movie 29 Announced: Fallen Angel of the Highway Releases April 10, 2026

The 29th film in the long-running Detective Conan series, Detective Conan: Fallen Angel of the Highway, will hit theatres across Japan on April 10, 2026.

The Detective Conan franchise continues to grow at an incredible pace. With over 107 manga volumes and more than 1,100 anime episodes, it remains one of Japan’s most consistent cultural pillars. The films keep breaking records as well:

  • The Million Dollar Five-Pointed Star (2024) earned 15.7 billion yen, the highest in series history.
  • Afterimage of the One-Eyed (2025) followed with 14.6 billion yen.

The 2026 movie now steps into that momentum — with a new character taking centre stage.

Hagiwara Chihaya, “Goddess of Wind,” Takes the Lead

Fans had been guessing ever since the special teaser shown at the end of the 2025 film. Those suspicions are now confirmed. Hagiwara Chihaya, squad leader of the Kanagawa Prefectural Police Traffic Department’s Third Mobile Unit, plays a major role in the upcoming movie.

Chihaya is known for her elite riding skills, which Ran once described as “the goddess of wind.”

In this film, her presence shifts from a supporting role to one of the core drivers of the story.

New Voice Actor: Sawashiro Miyuki

Following the passing of Tanaka Atsuko in 2024, Sawashiro Miyuki will take over the role. Sawashiro shared that she deeply admired Tanaka and prepared for the role by carefully reading the original manga — and even getting a motorcycle license. Fans are eager to see her interpretation of the character, given her long history of standout performances in major anime titles.

A Black Motorcycle, a New Police Prototype, and a High-Speed Mystery

The film begins in Yokohama. Conan, Ran, Sonoko, Kogoro, and fellow rider Sera Masumi visit the Kanagawa Motorcycle Festival in Minato Mirai. Out of nowhere, a mysterious black motorcycle launches over their car. Chihaya gives chase with remarkable precision, but the culprit slips away.

Later at the festival grounds, Conan’s group sees the unveiling of Angel, a cutting-edge police motorcycle. Not long after, reports come in: the same black bike has now appeared in Tokyo. Because its design resembles the Angel prototype, Conan and the group nickname it “Lucifer,” the black fallen angel.

The movie follows Conan and Chihaya as they track Lucifer across prefectures, trying to understand the culprit’s identity and motive.

Past Losses Come Back Into View

The teaser visual shows Chihaya standing with Conan, Sera, and Inspector Yokomizo Jugo. It also shows Hagiwara Kenji — Chihaya’s younger brother — and Matsuda Jinpei, Kenji’s best friend and Chihaya’s first love. Both died in the line of duty.

A calendar marking November 7, the anniversary of their deaths, appears in the trailer. This suggests the incident may tie back to unresolved grief or past cases, adding emotional weight to the action-driven story.

Main Characters

  • Hagiwara Chihaya (Sawashiro Miyuki)
Squad leader of Kanagawa’s Traffic Mobile Unit. Calm under pressure and unmatched in motorcycle handling. Known for saving Conan during a past chase with a dramatic mid-air “jump catch.”
  • Sera Masumi
A high-school detective and motorcycle enthusiast. This will be her first on-screen interaction with Chihaya.
  • Yokomizo Jugo
An inspector from Kanagawa’s First Investigative Division. Often overwhelmed by Chihaya’s speed and instincts.
  • Hagiwara Kenji (Miki Shinichiro)
Chihaya’s younger brother, formerly in the Metropolitan Police bomb disposal team. Killed while defusing an explosive.
  • Matsuda Jinpei (Nobutoshi Kanna)
Kenji’s best friend and Chihaya’s first love. Also killed in a bombing case.

Story Summary

Conan and his friends travel to Yokohama for the motorcycle festival. A black motorcycle appears suddenly, flying over their car as Chihaya chases it. Her bike is destroyed in the pursuit.

At the festival, the group sees the debut of Angel, a new police bike equipped with advanced technology. Soon, Lucifer — the mysterious black bike — shows up in Tokyo as well, evading even the Metropolitan Police.

As Conan and Chihaya investigate, memories of Kenji and Matsuda keep resurfacing, hinting at a deeper connection between the culprit and the past.
