From September 12 to December 21, 2025, the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum presents Van Gogh\u2019s Home: The Van Gogh Museum. The Painter\u2019s Legacy, the Family Collection, the Ongoing Story<\/em>. This exhibition offers a rare glimpse into how Vincent van Gogh\u2019s art was preserved and celebrated by his family after his death in 1890.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A Family\u2019s Dedication to Art<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Vincent van Gogh\u2019s brother, Theo, was not only his close supporter but also the custodian of much of his work. After Theo\u2019s passing, his wife Jo continued to safeguard and promote Vincent\u2019s art. Their son, Vincent Willem, founded the Vincent van Gogh Foundation and established the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam to house and protect the collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What to Expect at the Exhibition<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This exhibition is the first in Japan to focus on the Van Gogh family collection. It features over 30 masterpieces and four personal letters by Vincent van Gogh, many of which are being shown in Japan for the first time. Visitors will learn about the family’s efforts to preserve and share Vincent\u2019s legacy, ensuring his dream of creating art that offers consolation continues to inspire today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
