JUN Co., Ltd., the creative force behind some of Tokyo’s most iconic concept stores, is set to open a new venture, V.A. (Various Artists), on December 15, 2024. This cutting-edge concept store will occupy the former site of the legendary Montoak caf\u00e9 in Omotesando, a space steeped in cultural history and innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Montoak closed its doors in March 2022 after 20 years as a beloved hub for creatives. Originally opened in 2002 and helmed by renowned caf\u00e9 producer Uichi Yamamoto (\u5c71\u672c\u5b87\u4e00), Montoak was a centrepiece of Tokyo\u2019s caf\u00e9 boom of the late 1990s and early 2000s. Known for its understated fa\u00e7ade and expansive four-level interior, the caf\u00e9 attracted a devoted following of artists and tastemakers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Before Montoak, the site hosted the historic Caf\u00e9 de Rope, a pioneer in introducing beverages like Perrier and caf\u00e9 au lait to Japan, further cementing the location\u2019s reputation as a cultural crossroads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The name \u201cV.A.\u201d stands for \u201cVarious Artists,\u201d embodying the store\u2019s mission to create a vibrant space for cultural exchange and inspiration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project is helmed by Hiroshi Fujiwara (\u85e4\u539f\u30d2\u30ed\u30b7), often called the godfather of Japanese streetwear, who serves as the store\u2019s director. Fujiwara\u2019s past collaborations with JUN include iconic spaces like:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
