Tokyo’s busiest stations and malls may soon get a little easier to navigate when nature calls. TOTO is upgrading its public restroom IoT service and renaming it TOTO CONNECT PUBLIC, adding new tools that let visitors check stall availability and send cleaning requests from their smartphones. The service starts August 1, 2025, following the company’s announcement on July 3, 2025.
The new App allows you to scan a QR code at the restroom entrance to see which booths are free right now. See if there’s a baby chair, wheelchair-accessible booth, or other equipment you need. A simple map view shows the restroom location inside the building. Send a cleaning or repair request straight to staff from your phone.
Interfaces are also available in several languages, useful for Tokyo’s international visitors.
