“OTOMO THE COMPLETE WORKS” has been published by Kodansha (講談社) since 2022 as a complete collection covering the entire work of manga artist Katsuhiro Otomo (大友克洋). As a related project, the first-ever exhibition of cel-shaded artwork from his masterpiece AKIRA will be held at Mixalive TOKYO in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, from August 10 (Thu) to August 31 (Thu).

The book was first published in January of last year, and a total of seven books have been released up to now. Among these, three are related to AKIRA: Volume 21 “Animation AKIRA Storyboards 1”, Volume 22 “Animation AKIRA Storyboards 2”, and Volume 23 “Animation AKIRA Layouts & Key Frames 1”. The 24th volume, Animation AKIRA Layouts & Key Frames 2, is scheduled for release on the 17th of this month. Although the specific details of this exhibition of celluloid art have not been revealed, it is highly likely that valuable materials related to the animated version of AKIRA, including those contained in these books, will also be on display.
