“Reverb Time 60”, An Exhibition by World-Renowned Sculptor Matthew Monahan And Young Artist Kurotaki Aiku

An exciting new exhibition just opened in Tokyo, blending bold artistry with thoughtful exploration. “Reverb Time 60” brings together two striking talents—Matthew Monahan, a world-renowned sculptor from Los Angeles, and Kurotaki Aiku (黒瀧藍玖), a young multidisciplinary creator based in Tokyo.

Sold-out Opening

The show will launch on August 16, 2025, at SOM GALLERY in Nihonbashi (birth 4・5F, Yokoyamachō 4-9, Chūō). The opening party will run from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, and both artists will be in attendance. Don’t miss this rare chance to meet them and see their work up close.

Artistic Dialogue Across Generations

Monahan, born in 1972 in the U.S., uses mixed media—found objects, paper, and more—to craft shapes that feel uncanny and otherworldly. Kurotaki, born in 2000 in Kanagawa, builds striking three-dimensional textile sculptures. His standout “Human” series features iron boxes woven with warp and weft threads, embedding human figures in vivid spatial tension.

What the Show Explores

“Reverb Time 60” invites visitors to rethink sculpture today. It frames the medium in a new light—through layers of memory, perception, and the structures that shape our understanding
