Photographer Luigi Ghiri’s First Solo Museum Exhibition in Asia

In 2025, the Tokyo Photographic Art Museum (TOP Museum) marks its 30th anniversary with a series of compelling exhibitions that delve into the evolution of photography and moving images. Among these, the standout is Luigi Ghirri: Infinite Landscapes, the first major museum exhibition in Asia dedicated to the renowned Italian photographer.

Luigi Ghirri: Infinite Landscapes

Running from July 3 to September 28, 2025, this exhibition offers an in-depth look at Luigi Ghirri’s (1943–1992) exploration of colour, light, and everyday scenes. Featuring approximately 130 works, it spans his early series like Kodachrome and Still Life, as well as photographs capturing European landscapes and the studios of artists such as Giorgio Morandi and architect Aldo Rossi. The exhibition also highlights the contributions of Ghirri’s wife, Paola Borgonzoni, a graphic designer who co-founded the publishing house Punto e Virgola with him.

Notably, the exhibition will screen the 2022 documentary Infinito with Japanese subtitles on August 24 and September 12, accompanied by post-screening talks featuring esteemed guests.
