Nintendo Fans, it’s time to book your tickets to Japan!
The legendary video game company announced the grand opening of its much-anticipated Nintendo Museum on October 2, 2024, in Uji City, Kyoto. This new museum is being built on the historic site of Nintendo’s original Uji Ogura factory, where the company first began producing playing cards, including hanafuda and traditional Western-style cards, in its early years.
A sneak peek of the museum was revealed in a video posted on Nintendo’s official YouTube channel, featuring Shigeru Miyamoto, one of the most iconic game directors in the industry. The video offers a glimpse into the rich history of Nintendo and a preview of what visitors can expect when the museum opens its doors.
The Nintendo Museum is a two-story building designed to celebrate the company’s legacy. The second floor will feature an extensive collection of consoles and products released throughout Nintendo’s history. On the first floor, visitors can engage with eight interactive exhibits, including a large central screen for playing Hyakunin Isshu (a traditional Japanese card game), a batting machine, a massive shooting game, and the chance to play various Nintendo games using oversized controllers.
In addition to these interactive displays, the museum will house a restaurant offering original Nintendo-themed burgers and a gift shop selling exclusive merchandise only available at the museum.
They are now accepting drawing entries for October and November 2024 tickets.
