Nike Harajuku to Reopen This September at “Harajuku Quest” — A Fresh Start for Tokyo’s Beloved Flagship

A Storied Beginning: From the Original Flagship to Today

Nike first launched its Tokyo flagship in Harajuku in 2009, known as the “NIKE Flagship Store Harajuku.” Interior design by renowned Wonderwall, led by Masamichi Katayama, made it iconic, featuring eye-catching installations like a chandelier made from marathon bibs and a “FOOTWEAR WALL” featuring 1,600 shoe soles. In 2019, the store evolved into an app-integrated space—one of just three globally—to blend digital experiences with in-store shopping.

Closing the Chapter — But Not for Long

On August 4, 2025, Nike Harajuku announced its closing, ending its 16-year run as a cultural hotspot for sneakerheads and Tokyo visitors. At that time, Nike hadn’t announced plans for relocation.

Then, in a surprise twist, FashionSnap revealed that the store will reopen on September 11, 2025, inside the newly redone Harajuku Quest building. Located at 1-13-14 Jingumae, the new Nike Harajuku will operate from 10:00 to 21:00.
