Miffy’s 70th Anniversary Exhibition at Matsuya Ginza in Tokyo

In 2025, the beloved character Miffy, known as “うさこちゃん” (Usako-chan) in Japan, celebrates her 70th anniversary. Created in 1955 by Dutch artist and graphic designer Dick Bruna, Miffy has captured the hearts of fans worldwide with her simple yet expressive design and heartwarming stories. To commemorate this milestone, a special exhibition, “Miffy 70th Anniversary Exhibition,” will be held at Tokyo’s Matsuya Ginza department store from April 23 to May 12, 2025.

The exhibition, themed “More and More Miffy,” will showcase the original drawings and sketches from all 32 Miffy picture books, including “Miffy Goes to Stay” (1988) and “Dear Grandma Bunny” (1996), both making their first appearance in Japan. Visitors can also explore Bruna’s early paintings, paperback cover designs, and posters, offering a comprehensive view of his creative journey. With over 200 works and materials on display, attendees will gain deeper insight into Miffy’s enduring charm, characterized by her warm stories, lovable characters, rhythmic language, and graphic aesthetics.
