Casio, renowned for its innovative timepieces, is making waves with a groundbreaking product tailored for sauna lovers. The Casio CPP-002, unveiled as a sauna-approved watch, is designed to thrive in extreme heat and humidity—conditions where most traditional watches falter.
The crowdfunding campaign on Japan’s Makuake platform has successfully closed. The watch is estimated to be delivered in late June 2025.
Casio plans to produce 1,000 units, with an additional 300 special-edition models in collaboration with Sauna Ikitai. While pricing details are yet to be revealed, early adopters and sauna enthusiasts can follow the campaign for updates.
Sauna-Ready Durability and Design
The CPP-002 boasts a water resistance rating of 5 ATM (50 meters) and features a specially engineered heat-resistant battery with an impressive five-year lifespan. Encased in a resin body with low moisture permeability, this timepiece is built to withstand the challenging environment of a sauna, where intense heat and humidity can damage standard watches.
A key feature of the CPP-002 is its 12-minute counter, designed to help sauna-goers keep track of their sessions safely. For practicality, the watch includes an expandable elastic band, inspired by gym locker key bands, ensuring a secure and comfortable fit during use. Weighing just 24.5 grams, the CPP-002 is lightweight and functional.
Three Stylish Models to Choose From
Casio is offering the CPP-002 in three distinct designs to suit different preferences:
- CPP-002-OR: A striking combination of black, white, and orange.
- CPP-002-BK: A sleek all-black version.
- CPP-002-BU: A collaborative model in black and light blue, created in partnership with Sauna Ikitai, Japan’s largest sauna database.
Each model features a 35.44 mm-wide analog-style face, exuding minimalist elegance while serving as a practical companion for sauna sessions.
