This exhibition places Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) within the development of still life painting in Europe, from the 17th-century Netherlands to the start of the 20th century, and explores what Vincent van Gogh learned from his predecessors, how this was reflected in his own works, and how he influenced future generations of artists.
The exhibition also includes an area that focuses on “sunflowers”, introducing works by Vincent van Gogh and other artists that depict sunflowers and investigating why they painted the subject.
